China Clay UCV – 5 plank N

China Clay plank wagon produced by Peco and commissioned by the Cheltenham model centre. China clay in the form of Kaolin deposits was discovered in Cornwall by William Cookworthy circa 1768. Hard paste was produced from the china clay for use in porcelain pottery and by 1910 Cornwall was producing half of the worlds China Clay. BR commenced building UCV open china clay wagons like the one modelled here in the mid 1950’s. A little under 900 were made. ERA’s: 6 and 7
