Courtaulds – 7 plank N gauge

£14.95

7 plank private owner wagon produced by Dapol for their N’thusiasts club in 2013.Courtaulds was started by George Courtauld and his cousin Peter Taylor in 1794 as producers of silk, crepe and textiles in Pebmarsh, Essex. Over the course of many years the company became the leading producer of manmade fibres in the world, eventually being broken up in 1990. There is little information regarding the wagon modelled here, although it does feature in A.G. Thomas’ The Modellers Sketchbook of Private owner Wagons book 2. Courtaulds began production in Flint in 1917, by purchasing an existing factory which made artificial silk. The company would purchase a further three textile factories in the Flint area in 1919, 1922 and 1927 and would at its height employ some 10,000 people in the local area. The wagons would be used to transport coal and other materials to the various factories. ERA’s: 2 and 3. Wagon is in excellent like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact. Box is in very good condition.
