English China Clay – 5 plank (Triple Set) N


Special edition triple set of English China Clay wagons produced by Graham Farish exclusively for Kernow Model Rail Centre. Running no’s 490, 517 and 628. China clay in the form of Kaolin deposits was discovered in Cornwall by William Cookworthy circa 1768. Hard paste was produced from the china clay for use in porcelain pottery. In 1919 a number of smaller companies merged to form English China Clays Ltd of St. Austell. Wagon no. 490 was built by Hall Lewis & Co Ltd in 1928 and registered with G.W.R. ERA: 3
