G. E. Farrant – 7 plank N gauge

£21.95

Limited edition 7 plank wagon made by Dapol and commissioned by Ballards in 2005, famous for his Kent & Sussex wagons. George Ernest Farrant was a coal merchant based in Southborough, Kent. He began in the coal trade in 1891 but his main business was as a haulage contractor. In the early 1900’s Farrant had an account with the L&NWR. George passed away in 1943 and his daughters Gertrude ans Gwendolyn inherited and continued the businesses. Records show Farrants had two wagons numbered 20 and 21. Like many coal businesses the wagons were taken into the government pool for use during World War II. The wagons were not returned and Farrants were paid a sum of £8 per wagon in compensation. ERA: 2 and 3. Fantastic, like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact. Box in good condition with some wear.
