Description

Special edition wagon commissioned by Malc’s Models and made by Peco. The Ilkeston & Heanor Water Board was established in 1901 after issues with the supply of clean water to the  town. The Ilkeston & Heanor water Act established the board and where water would be supplied from until a new water works could be opened in 1904 at Whatstandwell. An extremely popular wagon to model due to its attractive colour and unusual livery. The board continued to look after the towns water supply until 1961 when it was merged with other local water boards to form the South Derbyshire Water Board. The wagon modelled is shown in a drawing by A.G. Thomas in his book The Modellers Sketchbook of Private Owner Wagons Book 1. Wagons would of been used to bring supplies to the water works.
