ERA 1, ERA 2, ERA 3
A limited edition of 100 wagons commissioned by Derails Models and made by Peco in 2019. Coal was mined from Lightmoor Colliery in Cinderford, Gloucestershire from 1841. The well known Crawshay family were involved with this colliery as well as several others in the Gloucester area. The colliery was a major supplier of household coal to the Forest of Dean and beyond. The colliery had access to the railway line first through a broad gauge line which ran between it, Cinderford Ironworks (also owned by the Crawshays) and the GW Forest of Dean branch (which opened in 1854), then in 1872 the Severn & Wye Mineral Loop was built giving the colliery a link to Lydney Docks. The colliery had a number of wagons from 1867 to the time that the colliery closed in 1940 and these were supplied by various builders including Shackleford & Co of Cheltenham, Gloucester RC&W Company and the Western Wagon Co. This particular wagon modelled here was built by the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in 1907 and was part of an order of 10 wagons paid for in cash for the sum of £665. ERA’s: 1, 2 and 3. Wagon is in immaculate, like new condition with all buffers and couplings intact. Box is in like new condition and appears to of never been opened.
