M & GN (Midland & Great Northern) – 3 plank wagon with container OO
Limited edition 3 plank wagon with an LNER container made by Bachmann in 1994 for the North Norfolk Railway. Limited edition certificate included no. 58 of 500. The Midland & Great Northern joint railway was formed in 1893 and connected south Lincolnshire to North Norfolk. The land surrounding the railway line was mainly agricultural and sparsely populated so M & GNJR’s main business came from transporting holidaymakers down to the coast. The profitability of the line began to decline after the end of the second World War and it would eventually close in 1959. A small part of the line near Sheringham is still used commercially today. Another large section is now run as a heritage steam line by the North Norfolk Railway. ERA’s: 2, 3 and 4. Wagon and container are in excellent condition with all buffers and couplings intact. The box has wear to all edges and the label end of the box has some crush damage and a tear. The plastic insert which holds the wagon is intact and holds the wagon securely in the box but when removed it is flimsy.
