MDHB – gunpowder van N gauge
Limited edition gunpowder van commissioned by Pennine Wagons and made by Dapol in 2015. The Mersey Docks & Harbour Board was founded in 1858 to manage the port of Liverpools and its docks. As trade and industry flourished under the MDHB and the businesses operating from the docks increased their trade the opportunity for the railways became apparent. 104 miles of railway line were laid to support the ever increasing amount of goods coming in and out of the docks. By 1880 such was the significance and success of the port Liverpool was made a city. The MDHB put forward proposals to have their own fleet of wagons to capitalise on the success of the rail line, but the railway comapnies objected and the wagons were never built. The wagon here is a representation of what a MDHB wagon could of been like. ERA: 1 and 2. Wagon is in superb, like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact, box is in very good condition.
