NE North Eastern Railway (weathered) – Gunpowder Van N

£11.95

Description

Weathered NE gunpowder van made by Dapol. The North Eastern Railway was formed in 1854, the result of the amalgamation of four other railways – the Malton & Driffield Railway, the York Newcastle & Berwick Railway, the York and North Midland Railway and the Leeds Northern Railway. In 1862 the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway also merged followed by the Stockton & Darlington Railway in 1863. Thanks to the coal trade the NER was a profitable and successful railway. In 1923 the grouping act of Great Britain would make NER part of LNER (London North Eastern Railway) thus making it one of the “Big Four” rail companies along with GWR, LMS and SR. Grouping would last until 1948. ERA: 3
