Poynton Collieries – 5 plank N gauge

£26.95

Limited edition 5 plank wagon commissioned by Pennine Wagons and made by Peco in 2017. (NR-P991) Poynton Collieries was located close to Manchester in the small town of Poynton in Cheshire. The area had a rich fault line of coal known as the ‘Red Rock Fault’. Owned by Lord Vernon from the 1820’s the collieries output was primarily consumed by the cotton mills in Manchester and the silk mills in Macclesfield. Both the LNWR and Great Central railways built lines to the colliery and by the early 1900’s the colliery had it’s own fleet of wagons. The collieries decline came with the First World War and by 1936 it had closed. ERA: 2. Wagon is in superb, like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact, original box in very good condition.
