Limited edition triple set of private owner wagons made by Graham Farish for Modelzone in 2006. Limited edition of 504. The set includes F. W. Wacher, M. A. Ray & Sons and Frederick. G. Holmes & Co. F. W. Wacher was born in 1859 in Herne Bay, Kent originally a corn factor by 1891 he was trading in coal and corn. He began running wagons in 1898 with this particular wagon made by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Co in 1907. The business continues to appear in records until 1942. ERA: 2 and 3. John and Martin Ray were trading in coal circa 1851, in 1861 Martin married Mary Ann and they continued the business now living in Bermondsey. Martin passed away 10 years late leaving Mary Ann to run the business with three of the couples sons. The company had depots around south London and Kent, including Gravesend and West Wickham. The company is known to of begun purchasing wagons in 1910. No. 123 was part of a batch of 11 built by T. Wright & Sons of Nottingham and was registered by SR in 1935. ERA: 2 and 3. Frederick George Holmes was a chemist by trade and in 1901 his profession was tar distiller. He began to run wagons in 1911 from Northfleet Station on the South Eastern and Chatham Railway. The wagon modelled here dates from 1925 after the formation of the big four and the wagon is duly marked Northfleet, S.R. ERA: 3. All three wagons are in excellent, like new with all buffers and couplings intact. Original box, in good condition with some light wear.
