S. Brookman – 5 plank OO
Limited edition 7 plank wagon commissioned by West & Wales association of Model Railway Clubs and made by Dapol in 2006. Limited edition of 200 pristine wagons, certificate no. 125. Samuel Brookman is first listed as a coal merchant in 1901, however he had been working in the coal industry for some years and had close links with Kingswood Colliery. The company was based at Montpelier Station, Bristol. Records show Brookman bought wagons from the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co and the Midland Railway Carriage & Wagon Co, all were registered with the Midland Railway. The wagon modelled here was purchased from Gloucester RC&WC in 1901, an 8 ton 5 plank with full height side doors. As with many of the coal merchants of this era Brookman is shown operating until 1938 and then the wagon pool occurred which unfortunately put an end to many of these companies. ERA’s: 2 and 3. Wagon is in great condition with all buffers and couplings intact. Original box which is in fair condition with some wear and creases.
