Smith Anderson, David Jones & Pilkington Bros (triple set) – 7 plank OO



Limited edition triple set of private owner wagons made by Bachmann for their Collectors Club in 2010. Limited edition certificate included no. 177 of 504. The set includes Smith Anderson & Co, David Jones and Sons and Pilkington Bros. Smith Anderson & Co Ltd made paper at a mill based in Leslie, Scotland. ERA: 1. The company can trace its root back as far as 1813. David Jones & Sons produced coal for hop drying and horticultural use. The wagon modelled here was made by the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Works in 1903. ERA: 2. Pilkington Brothers Ltd have been glass builders since 1826. This particular wagon was built by Charles Roberts & Co in 1934 and was used to transport sand for glass making running between the quarries in Rainford and glassworks in St. Helens. Due to its special construction and use the wagon was not pooled for use in 1939. ERA: 3 All three wagons are in superb, like new condition with all buffers and couplings intact. Box in excellent condition.
