Spencer, Abbott & Co – 7 plank N gauge

Special edition 7 plank wagon commissioned by the N Gauge Society for the 50th Anniversary of their Area Groups. Made by Dapol for the NGS in 2017. Spencer, Abbott was a coal factor in the early to mid 1900’s. Based in both London and Birmingham the company supplied coal wholesale to industrial customers particularly gas works. The company had the sole contract to sell Hatfield Mains gas coal in the London area. Apart from Hatfield Main Spencer, Abbott dealt with a number of other well known collieries including  Kingsbury, Princess Royal, Pentrich and Glass Houghton to name a few. The company had a large fleet of wagons and used different wagon builders to for fill their wagon needs, a large expansion operation happened between 1922 and 1925. The wagon modelled here was made by the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co in 1923 and was part of an order of 25 wagons numbered from 442 to 490. Only even numbers were used for the wagons. ERA’s: 2 and 3. Wagon is in superb like new condition with all couplings and buffers intact, box is in very good condition.
