£24.95

Description

Special edition gunpowder van commissioned by Modelbahn Union (MU34000) and made by Dapol in 2010. Peter Walker bought the Willow Brewery in Wrexham in 1860, Peter’s father Peter Senior had run breweries in Liverpool and his grandfather Andrew was one of the leading colliery owners in Scotland in the 1800’s. After purchasing the small brewery Peter Walker (Junior) quickly expanded it, developing it in to a highly successful business, the largest brewery in Wrexham. By 1865 some 500 barrels of beer were being brewed a week and in the following years the brewery was expanded to the adjoining property. The brewery would be a major part of Wrexham town until 1882 when Walker took the decision to move his business to Burton on Trent to further expand. This van is a representation of a wagon the brewery would of used to transport its beer out of  Wrexham on the Great Western Railway during the late 1800’s. ERA’s: 1 and 2. Wagon is in superb like new condition with all buffers and couplings intact. Box and sleeve in very good condition.
