W. Butler & Co Tar Distillers – 5 plank OO
Limited edition 5 plank wagon made by Hornby and commissioned by British Railway Modelling in 2008. Limited edition certificate included, this being no. 120. W. Butler & Co Tar Distillers was founded by William Butler in 1843 in Bristol. In 1860 the company built a new works on an old brick works site at Upper Parting on the Severn near Gloucester where they produced a number of products from tar collected from gas works and coke ovens. The wagon modelled here was bought from the Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co in 1904 for the price of £65. Registered with the GWR. ERA: 2. Wagon is in excellent, like new condition, with all buffers and couplings intact. Box in good condition.
